10 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE BORED ON A RAINY DAY

It doesn’t seem more than a few days ago that we were enjoying the sun, but now the rainy days are well and truly here! Don’t let the weather get you down though, there are loads of things that you can do indoors, and here ten ways that you can chase away the rainy day boredom:

1. Pick up a book

One of the obvious things to do when you are bored is to read a book. Close the curtains, turn on the fire, lay back and enjoy a good read. Relaxing your body, while you exercise your mind is the perfect way to unwind, while away from the worries of the world for a few hours in peace and tranquillity.

2. Experiment in the kitchen

Take this time as a chance to brush up on your culinary skills. It’s now that you can get out the cookbooks and try your hand at some adventurous cooking. A bit of practice now and you will be able to really stun your guests at your next dinner party.

3. Play some board games

Playing some board games is another one of great things to do when you are bored on a rainy day. Show the kids that not all games need to be plugged in and get some of those board games out of the cupboard and dust them off! It’s a great way to get everyone together and you’ve probably forgotten yourself how much fun they can be. If in doubt, ask your grandma!

4. Get a bit crafty

Try your hand at a bit of art or craft work. There’s a whole host of different things that you try; painting, jewellery making, collage, the list is endless, and you might come up with some great gifts for Christmas too.

5. Get on the phone

If it’s raining where you are, then the chances are your friends and family are getting bored too. So, pick up the phone and give them a call. A rainy day provides the perfect opportunity to catch up with all the news and gossip with friends. You will also get the chance to talk to a few people you haven’t spoken to in a while.

6. What to do when you are bored at home? Have a snooze

What a great excuse a rainy day is to just to laze around and take a nap! Go on, let the stress drain away, put feet up and just relax for a while. The jobs can wait until tomorrow.

7. Catch up on the cleaning

Perhaps not everyone’s ideal way to spend a rainy day, but it is a good opportunity to catch on some of the chores that you’ve been putting off. A good clean around the home or tidying up a spare room will keep you occupied and get a job out of the way.

8. Get the movies out

Get the popcorn popping, invite around a few friends, sit back and enjoy a few classic movies together. This is one of the greatest things to do when you are bored on a rainy day! Forget the weather and turn your home into a movie theatre for the day. You won’t even notice the miserable weather beating at your window from the outside.

9. Go out in the rain, and then get back in the dry

A rainy day doesn’t mean that you can’t leave the house at all. A quick run to the car and then you can be on your way to the bowling alley, museum, shopping mall or gym. There’s plenty to do that is under cover, so don’t just waste the whole day away, just because of a little rain.

10. Pamper yourself

Banish the winter chills by running yourself a nice hot scented bath. Uncork a bottle of good wine, Surround yourself with scented candles and sit back and enjoy! Bored with the rainy day? Who’s bored!
